About Me

Artisan Glass NI specialises in unique  fused glass handmade by myself, Denise Loughrey.

Each piece is handmade by me in my home in Portrush in Northern Ireland.  I draw inspiration from our dramatic and rugged coastline, picturesque harbours, golden sandy beaches and historic landscapes.  My work embodies the spirit and soul of Ireland which allows you to chase away a grey day and evoke fond memories of brisk Spring walks or lazy Summer days on the beach.

Using only artist's glass gives the pieces fabulous clarity and scope of colours. The glass is hand cut and fired in a kiln at very high temperatures. This firing process fuses and melts the different colours and layers together.  The uniqueness of the designs comes from the techniques used to create the pieces. Pieces are created using cut sheet glass, powdered glass layers and screen printing.

The fused glass designs can be made into a variety of beautiful pieces including framed pictures, wall hangings, dishes, jewellery, coasters, light catchers and candle holders as well as creating one off commissioned pieces.

As the products are constructed from coloured glass so the colours will not fade and they can be used for interiors or exteriors. They are completely food safe and can be washed in warm soapy water.
